What's This?

Salmon sustain the people, wildlife and landscapes of the Yukon River. If the salmon are lost, all will be affected.

A female Chum Salmon washed up on some tree branches in the Fishing Branch River, providing an easy meal for this sow Grizzly and her cub. The chum salmon run this year is expected to be around 35,000.

In 1986, the first salmon count on the Fishing Branch River was over 350,000 fish. The mismanagement of the salmon has lead to runs as low as 9,000 fish.
