Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refugee, Alaska, Yukon, Porcupine Caribou Herd, 1002 lands

A caribou from the Porcupine caribou herd with a newly born calf on their calving grounds on the coastal plain of Alaska's Arctic Refuge. The coastal plain of the Refuge has been used for over 20,000 years, because it provides the perfect nursery for the herd. In 2017, the Trump Administration opened the calving grounds to Oil and Gas development, that biologists and Gwich'in elders believe will threaten the health of the 200,000 storng herd.

The Gwich'in Gathering in Old Crow, Yukon. A gathering of all the Gwich'in First Nation (Aboriginal Peoples) from Yukon, Alaska, and NWT held in 2014 in the community of Old Crow on the banks of the Porcupine River. It is a cultural gathering where people also discuss important issues like the threat of oil and gas development in the calving ground of the Porcupine Caribou Herd in Alaska's ANWR.
