The 170,000 strong Porcupine Caribou Herd migrating through Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). The coastal plain of ANWR is their calving grounds and is threatened by oil development. The coastal plain is considered sacred grounds by the Gwich'in people who never visit the area for fear of disturbing the caribou during the critical calving period.
